Volunteer and Internships Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

TVT accepts applications for volunteers and interns throughout the year. Nevertheless, there are more opportunities available during the summer but we host a continual stream of internships every month of the year. It will therefore depend on when one is available and application must be received two months before the volunteer/internship start date.

This varies by internship, but generally most student internships are for 6-12 weeks. The volunteer programme is available throughout the year and ranges from 2 weeks depending on one’s availability. TVT is flexible on the number of days worked but one must be able to work for at least three days in a week if assigned to a project sites in any country. For virtual volunteers or online volunteers, time spent will depend on the individual time plan.

Yes, for the time being TVT projects are in Kenya but arrangements are under way to roll out similar projects in other countries of Africa and this will be communicated through the TVT website.

Anyone can apply; it is not cast on stone since it does not matter the skills, experience or the background one comes from. ….TVT welcomes application from people from all walks of life 

  • Be 15 years or older for students internship programme and more than 18 years old for  the volunteer programme
  • Basic computer skills
  • An interest in serving people in need
  • Be able to communicate in English
  • Be a person of people and a God fearing individual

Complete application form and attach recent copy of your resume/curriculum vitae (CV) and motivation statement。A copy of the bank transfer to confirm payment of  a non refundable application fee of Kshs. 1,500 (Euro. 15 or US$20) is also required. Applications must be received at least two months before the proposed volunteer/internship start date. Application forms request for contact details. Please include your most reliable contact information email or telephone。TVT will confirm receipt of your application and arrange for an interview either by phone, video conference or in-person. TVT will contact each applicant within two weeks to confirm the status of their applications.

TVT will evaluate the fit (skills and experience) of each candidate against the needs of TVT projects. After successful completion of the initial evaluation round, TVT will send emails to the shortlisted applicants for a more comprehensive interview to assess competencies, skills and interests in line with the prevailing needs of TVT. Both successful and unsuccessful  applicants will receive an email in two weeks after the closure of the assessment or interview process.

TVT is a small charitable organisation with limited resources to support income generating activities for women and youth in rural villages. Thus the interns and volunteers will not be paid for their participation in the programmes. However, TVT will be responsible for organizing logistics such as office space, arranging meetings and other local operational requirements.

Both interns and volunteers will receive a commendation or  reference letter upon completion of their programme with TVT.
